The table runs through one year in the order most Issaquah kitchens meet it. Every row is a job an owner can do from the front of the unit, with the point where upkeep stops helping. Pick a start month and let the rows repeat.

Spring: pollen and needles at the louvres

A built-in Sub-Zero breathes through its front: the grille above the door on a Classic or PRO unit, the louvred kickplate at floor level on Designer and undercounter models. Homes on Squak Mountain, in Montreux and on the Talus slopes sit among trees, and whatever the trees drop can find its way to floor-level louvres. Spring suits the first clean.

Switch the unit off at its control panel, lift the grille or remove the kickplate, and with gloves on draw a soft brush and the vacuum along the fins, not across them. Give the temperatures up to a day to return.

Summer and autumn: the second clean and the seal

The manufacturer sets the interval at six to twelve months and asks for more frequent cleaning where pets live. With a dog or cat in the house, or if spring turned up a thick mat of lint, make early autumn the second clean. A kitchen with no pets can treat autumn as a look, and clean only if the fins have coated over again.

While you are down there, run your eye along the door seal. Sub-Zero’s own troubleshooting checks three things first: the condenser is clean, the door shuts fully, and the seal is free of rips. A split seal is not an upkeep job; write it down and phone.

Winter: the filter, the cartridge and the holiday load

November suits the two yearly swaps, since both last about a year and both are easier before the shelves fill up. The water filter is rated for 750 gallons or one year, whichever comes first; the Classic guide also lists a noticeable drop in water pressure and hollow cubes as reasons to change it sooner. The air purification cartridge lasts approximately a year, and the panel shows a reminder when it is due.

The week before guests arrive, clear food away from the interior vents and check the doors close properly.

Keeping the record

A note on your phone or a card inside a cupboard door is enough: the date of each condenser clean, each filter and cartridge change, and anything you noticed on the fins or the seal. It lets a technician rule out upkeep causes quickly. If every row is done and the cabinet is still warm a day later, call Sub-Zero Repair Issaquah at (425) 272-6613.

Owners also ask

Why begin the year in spring rather than January?

Spring is when wooded lots put pollen and conifer needles into the air, and a unit that breathes at floor level pulls some of that toward its coil. Starting then clears what the season brings. It is this site's scheduling suggestion, not a manufacturer rule; any start date you will remember works.

Does every Sub-Zero need all six rows?

No. The water filter row applies only to units with an ice maker or water dispenser, and the cartridge row only to units equipped with an air purification system; with no cartridge cover on the back wall, skip it. The condenser rows and the seal look apply to every built-in unit.

What if a reminder lights up in the wrong month?

Follow the unit rather than the calendar. The panel reminder is the better signal, and the day you make the change becomes that row's new month. If a fresh filter or cartridge does not clear the reminder, call Sub-Zero Repair Issaquah at (425) 272-6613 and say what the panel shows.
