You can tell which kind you own by looking, with no model lookup. A louvred band across the top of the unit, above the doors, means the coil is up there. Doors that run close to the floor with only a kickplate beneath them mean the coil is down at your feet.

Do I need tools to reach it?
Not on a top-grille unit: the grille swings up once you pull or rotate its bottom edge. A full-size Designer kickplate comes off by removing two mounting screws, so one screwdriver is enough. Nothing else has to move, and the unit never needs sliding out of its opening for this job.
